u know… some men are irritatingly irresponsible, incomprehensible, inability to follow procedures plus has the innate ability making his own decisions without consulting management and then blame it on others when he is queried! argh! i have tried my best to detach and avoid any working/personal friendship with him cos he and i can’t co-exist without me feeling that i wanna jump down from the tallest building in rage!
now that i got that out… i can release the rage in my body in order to see the light of hope…(although i seriously think there is no way he can ever change but i’ll give him the benefit of a doubt!)
do u know, there are at least 3 hotel’s grand ballroom in KL that is booked for wedding dinners on the same day my brother is planning to have one? its either someone help me get some good connections to pull strings or my brother has to share ballrooms by reducing the table bookings to 35 or to change the date. mandarin oriental hotel is being a prick/snob at the moment by not even returning phonecalls. so dun care abt them... my mom and bro is pretty much fixed on renaissance... so will most likely change the wedding dinner date...

Renaissance is beautiful but the staffs there are crap!
i agree... but renaissance package is also simpler to choose for ppl who like things done easily...
i don't like attending weddings, always end up making out with the maid of honour...
can i give a suggestion?oh wait...does it have to be in a ballroom in some hotel,or can it be somewhere different?coz my sis had hers at a house in d'sara heights called passion road.it's simple and beautiful.
btw,dont bother with mandarin oriental...the employees are pretty much useless when it comes to pressure.might end up screwing up the whole nite.
what about shang?or concorde?if u're really desperate,i can try to get u marriot.
think hotel will be easier cos spore family is coming over.

I agree with ellie. Shangri-la has the best tasting food for hotels. The little extra cost is well worth. We(it was my brothers wedding, he was working in spore too so i had to help out over here) finally went for Marriotts as Shang was booked. Everything went pretty well.Very grand ballroom and the rooms were nice too. Food was not excellent but good enough. Renaissance was one of the choices too but coz the ballroom was to be shared(just like u mentioned), it didnt look as good and 35 was too few tables, so we let it go. How about Westin, the new Hilton and Meridien? I dont know anything about them but i didnt see u mentioning.
Another tip, u can negotiate to change certain things in the package which u think will be a better choice(which is not offered in the package). For example, ice swans or flower arches can be replaced with say, seat covers with ribbons(yes u have to pay for them) or the use of their sound system, or a room :P etc. It's better if u accummulate all the thing u dont want in the package and then negotiate for the things u want in exchange. Different hotels provide different things, so it depends on how generous the hotel representative is(coz it probably affects their commission!) and how good ur negotiation skills are *wink*.

actually,shenn...try to avoid the new hilton...so far,i've heard nothing but bad reviews from friends and relatives.meridien's pretty cheap,can give it a go.but i hafta wish ur bro luck,considering the plans are so last minute.
The wedding is 9mths(feb rite?) away. I think the timing is about right. My bro's was booked around 6mths before. But good luck anyway, this is JUST the beginning.
shang and westin is a wee bit too pricey, klhilton and marriott's booked. concorde's ballroom ceiling too low. don't like sunway and meridien. we are pretty much set on renaissance. anonymous, thanks for the tip anyways :o) negotiation skills will be in motion soooon...:oP

hey Shenn, just an idea, why not have the reception on an open field, something like a golf course. they're doing that for our Graduation here. with plasma screens, and those blows all over. ofcourse the ladies are gonna have a hard time with their heels, but what the hell.
