happy chinese new year! may the year of the golden rooster brings good health, more wealth and happiness always to all!
time really flies… last year’s chinese new year was bad cos the last words i heard from my then bf the day b4 CNY were 'i’ll call u' but i never heard from him again. since then, i’ve been through quite a lot. according to chinese believe, i’m headed for downs this year cos i’m 29 as per the chinese calendar. today’s the first day, so far so good. aren’t much setbacks yet. was winning at card games a lot more than usual yesterday (no gambling) plus one of my uncles accidentally handed me the wrong ang pow and gave me rm50 just now! :oP hopefully it won’t be that bad and the new year will bring me more happiness. i miss smiling and laughing.
am totally exhausted. was out the whole day visiting my relatives back at my dad’s hometown. highway was really jam and felt like puking cos my dad was swerving in and out of lanes.
haven’t been updating a while. had lots to write but never got round to it. will try to pen down as much as i can remember :oP
28 jan 2005 – fri
yippee!! got my bonus :o) so went to euro deli, uptown for yummy dinner. food’s not bad. rushed back home after to meet 2 friends. one had to collect something from me and the other to give me something. after tat, had a quick shower and rushed off to my schoolmate’s pre-wedding nite party.
29 jan 2005 – sat
arrived at my schoolmate’s place abt 9am to be one of her 7 chee mui's. 1 to help dress up the bride and get her things in order while the rest of us prepared the house for the groom and heng tai’s to arrive at about 10am :oP
after the groom and the heng tai’s got through all of the chee mui’s obstacles (the details will be posted below :oP), the groom unveiled the bride, took her round the neighbourhood for a spin before returning to the bride’s place for the tea ceremony and then to the grooms place for another round of tea ceremony. by the time we were done it was 1pm (i was totally exhausted!) and it took an hour to get back cos there was a terrible jam!
managed to get some sleep before the wedding dinner at federal hotel. was pulled to help out at the reception table but it was cool. best part of the nite was when the video of the morning’s event as well as a short clip of the bride and groom was shown. it was so sweet i wanted to cry. one of the groom’s words still echos through my head ‘although we’ve been together for 8 years, everyday still feels like the 1st time we went out’ and they were holding hands with fingers interlocking...awwww... i wish them everlasting happiness.
two of the things i miss most abt being in a relationship is holding hands and the good old warm and secure hugs. makes u feel very much needed and loved.
chee mui’s obstacles
main gate : 1st , 2nd obstacle
a red string was tied at the gate and all of them have to limbo through. groom was a real gentleman and went first :oP
after they got through, 9 pushups! all of them were very sporting and lined up horizontally to do the pushups in sync with the chee mui’s countdown :oP it looked really cool!
main house door : 3rd, 4th, 5th obstacle
i held the key to the padlock of the main door and my hands were grasping the padlock of the side door as ppl needed to walk in and out.
all of them had to eat a banana but they all cheated cos the best man went round to collect the cili padi we hid in it. wonder how they knew we sabotaged the bananas?.
they also had to eat the ‘sweet, sour, bitter, spicy’ dish comprising of honey (sweet), lemon (sour), coffee powder (bitter) and cili padi (spicy).
funniest obstacle was the one where one of the heng tai’s had to roll a raw egg from the waist till the toes underneath his pants without breaking it! the chee mui chose the only guy who wore jeans to do it as the others heng tai’s pants didn’t look tight enough. but he got through that easy :oP
throughout all that, the matchmaker lady (who is on the grooms side) kept asking me to open the side door for her even though she didn’t need to go in and out umpteenth of times! best man saw and tried to get through but unfortunately for him, i was grasping the padlock really tightly, so he got a shock when he tried to grab my hand cos i screamed ‘sexual harassment’!! :oP he never attempted it again after that :oP
bride’s door : 6th, 7th obstacle
after all the chee mui’s were safely at the bride’s door, i opened the main door’s padlock for the groom’s side to come in BUT the groom suddenly decided to stall time by having a drink (poor guy had to eat the cili padi :oP) hoping that we would give up our obstacles! but we had plenty of time, and waited for them while having drinks on our own as well :oP
the first thing the groom had to do when they all barged up the stairs was to declare ‘i love u’ in 9 languages. i only recognized abt 7 :oP
after tat, the groom was given a paper (slightly smaller than A3 size) with a drawn heart shape where he had to kiss it with lipstick until his bride was satisfied with the amount of kisses on it :oP one of his heng tai’s helped him put on the lipstick :oP he even had to put his thumbprint on it without knowing the real purpose of our request :oP that piece of blank paper with his kisses and thumbprint will be given to his bride later to write her household rules! hahahah!
30 jan 2005 – sun
watched walk in the clouds and final fantasy before heading to sungei wang for dinner and to buy dvds :oP
a friend sent 2 really nice quotes…
lost: you never lose by loving. you always lose by holding back
i do agree to this but i think it only applies if both feels for each other. if there are no sparks, u would lose by loving cos someone does not love in return. this will only end in hurt and pain especially to the person giving as one of the most painful feeling is when u find out that someone u wanted to love doesn’t really love u in return even if u tell urself a zillion times that u have no hope.
will you love me for the rest of my life? no, i’ll love you for the rest of mine
awww...sooo sweet...
31 jan 2005 – mon
work work work... sigh, had to leave earlier cos had family dinner as my bro is going to spore for interviews and he won’t be back till after CNY :o(
got an sms from a friend asking me to meet up with him more often as he wants to know me better as we can click. he seems like a nice guy, very caring, romantic... the type that’ll run to the ends of the earth for u. my friends tell me to get to know him better as i deserve someone nice like tat cos i usually fall for untouchables, men who don’t appreciate me, men who said they love me but hurt me the very next minute, men who always think that i’ll find someone new before them but they get married first. sometimes i think i’ve forgotten wat love is. then i see old couples still holding hands and giving each other hugs like they just fell in love for the first time... i still hope...

-What sunshine is to flowers, smiles are to humanity. These are but trifles, to be sure; but, scattered along life's pathway, the good they do is inconceivable. (Joseph Addison, 1672 - 1719)-
